MIAMI, FL (Septiembre 10th, 2009) – Thursday night, September 24th, 2009, at the Wilbur Theater in Boston, Massachusetts, singer Lizette Santana will perform her second single “Dejarte Aqui” of her new album Aún Sueño En Ti, which is also titled in English I Still Dream of You.
This star-studded celebration, will be broadcasted to the Caribbean and all Central America via the network Telemicro Internacional. This is the fourth annual award celebration, in which not only celebrities but also community figures are honored for their significant contribution in the Music, Acting, Sports, Modeling, Business and Education industries. Last year honorees included Miss Universe Amelia Vega, baseball player Sammy Sosa, singer Ednita Nazario, Kat de Luna and Pulitzer Award winner Author Junot Diaz.
This year some of the honorees include actor Cesar Evora, salsa singer Jerry Rivera, Obie Bermudez, and soap opera producer Juan Osorio among others.
Her album “Aún Sueño En Ti” | “I Still Dream of You”, which debuted on the frontpage of iTunes’ under “New & Noteworthy” in the Rock Latino category and it kept its position for eight consecutive weeks, displays Lizette Santana’s bicultural fabric and rich musical palette.
With her American upbringing and Latin roots of Dominican parents, her collection of influences is clearly present. She credits her dad for introducing her to the Rock of artists such as The Beatles and Blondie, as well as the percussive drums and güira of Merengue music such as Juan Luis Guerra. Lizette’s other influences include pop rock folk artists such as Sarah Mclachlan, Tori Amos and pop latin balladeers Amanda Miguel and Isabel Pantoja.
Lizette showed her interest in music at an early age, at nine years old she began to study classical piano, at sixteen she had already won her third award at a National Piano Recital competition by The Guild American College of Musicans. The following year she received Honorable Mention at a preliminary competition of the then popular tv-show Star Search and at seventeen she entered the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, where high profile music industry artists, producers and executives have also attended, such as Juan Luis Guerra, Melissa Ethridge, John Mayer, and Michael Jackson’s producer Quincy Jones among others. After her studies at Berklee, Lizette lived in New York, where she juggled acting school at The School for Film & Television, recorded demos and performed around the city, prior to finally moving to Miami, Florida which she calls home.
It was in the city of Miami, where she gave shape to some of her melodic and poetic ideas, in her album Aún Sueño En Ti | I Still Dream of You , intimate personal experiences which she shares with the world today. Her lyrics are an honest nostalgic confession that displays the vulnerability of a woman whose feelings remain, yet reveals the strength and boldness of an empowered woman.
Lizette collaborated with popular multi-instrumentalist and producer Fernando Perdomo, who has also recorded with international artists from Paulina Rubio, Tego Calderon, Cristian Castro to Jennifer Lopez to name a few. The album includes ten original compositions, two in which she co-wrote with Perdomo and one written by Perdomo and Miguel Luna, a sought after Mexican composer who has also written for artists such as Luis Miguel. Other musicians who also collaborated in the album were Derek Cintron on drum arrangements and R.J. Ronquillo on guitars whom have also recorded with Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin.
Lizette Santana blends both an organic and ethereal tone to her music, built on a genre-defying mix of pop, rock, folk and latin. Characterized by melancholic strings and vocal harmonies; instrumental textures that serve as a backdrop to empowering and emotionally rich lyrics, delivered with a voice that can be fairly described as powerfully gentle and sultry.
Lizette Santana is brought to the Latin Pride National Award by Alternative Multiservices, Espaillat Mills, Estrella Law Offices, P.C., Sto.Dgo. Motor & Towing Svcs and Rocstar, Inc. “AÚN SUEŇO EN TI” (I STILL DREAM OF YOU) is available internationally both in CD and digital formats.
